Season 4 of The Wire is very sad and intense season, yet at the same time funny and emotional. It introduces us to the Baltimore school system, Mayors election process, and police department politics aka chain of commands.
With Barksdale behind the bar, new player Marlo Stanfield, steps up on the street and dominates the city of Baltimore. Marlo's philosophy is to recruit more foot solders and muscle. The one way he does this is by recruiting kids from the middle school. For muscle on the street he has Chris and Snoop! one of the best side roles I have ever seen. The character Snoop, is not an actor she grew up on the streets of Baltimore selling drugs.
O yeah Carceti runs for Mayor. The politics is so funny, with the current Mayor Rawls getting in trouble for no reason because they keep opening cases to show he doesn't do much to protect the city.
We get Omar back on the streets.. he does his usual ambush to rip money from the drug lords. He even gets Marlo and his people.
O yeah, the Chain of Commands, Mr. McNultty finally settles down with Beaty the cop from season 2 to run city patrols (but Knowing him I don't think he is to stay that way in a retirement position). To begin the season Major Crimes unit is pretty much done for because no more Daniels running and caring for the department(he is busy being deputy) and the new lieutenant is not as good with the wire taps.
The season revolves around the school district and Prez and Colvin trying to help the kid show there is more to life than gangs. They show how the kids make their foot into the gangs and selling drugs and ending is very sad.. cos no matter how hard you try there will be a few kids left behind.
and then...
